My Success Journey...
During the 20+ years I spent in the corporate leadership roles of office management, marketing and executive administration, I simultaneously fed my love for writing and also helping people with career services, personal development and job acquisition.
As a communicator and educator who loves the art and power of written and verbal expression, I would find time outside of my long workdays to unleash my creativity in writing and editing as well as my passion to support those seeking to start and elevate their careers. It had become all too common for the brief complimentary discovery session to ignore the clock, resulting in my clients receiving professional and personal development coaching.
How My Layoff Became My Payoff...
Although I had been writing and helping people to discover and pursue their dreams, I hadn’t yet stepped out from the trappings of being driven by my salary goals. Basically, my lifestyle and internal sabotage kept me STUCK. Little did I know that I would soon be challenged to officially commit and live by example.
When my former employer went through a massive layoff, I was amongst the thousand employees whose Christmas gift was a cardboard box to transport my personal items home. While spending considerable time regrouping and reflecting on my life, I rediscovered who I was without the titles and tenure. I got reacquainted with my authentic self.
Still torn between climbing the financial ladder and my heart's desire, I took a leap of faith - in God and in myself. Such a major change didn’t come easy. But when I committed and stopped fluctuating between industries, I finally experienced what I had advised so many people for so many years. Fully embracing my calling in career services, professional and personal development, as well as writing/editing, allowed me to experience my ultimate payoff – becoming the best VISION of myself.
It’s not about chasing the money, material possessions or being tainted by tenure. Been there, done that – for years. It’s about using my birth gifts to live a life that matters – where I’m fulfilled and I’m serving humanity. It’s about being an example for my family and my circle of influence. It’s about leaving a legacy.
